Athletic

A look back at the achievements and milestones across Sports, Swimming, Football, Athletics, and Karate. Exceeding the limits, our young Paulians, the athletes, break records and win medals. Throughout the 11 years of history, the growth of each sport has been a colossal success. The talents, skills, and perseverance of the students have been an immense privilege to our school. When our Pauliens get on the field, they strike fear into the hearts of their competitors, showing splendid and exquisite performances. Throughout the 11 years of our college, the Paulians have journeyed from humble beginnings in sportsmanship to one of the most outstanding displays of sportsmanship ever seen. The sophisticated and rigorous athletes have gained many medals through dedication, diligence, and tenacity, showing priceless achievements to our Alma Mater and gaining substantial respect and gratitude from all.

Karate

One of the most exceptional martial arts used for self- defense, and which has continuously evolved, is "Karate." Enormous qualities can be seen in Karate. The art of Karate is both beguiling and powerful. Karate originated in Japan, and many astonishing Karate skills and techniques can be observed. The movements are flawless, and the techniques are perfect. The style of Karate we use in our college is Shotokan Karate. It was introduced in 2016. Our school belongs to the "Sri Lanka Karate Do Federation" (SKD Federation), under the guidance of M.P.D. Malan Karunaratne and D.P.C.P. Wimalsena, with splendid outcomes for the school. There are a total of 70 students from the Senior and Junior Sections who practice Karate. Our Karate champions have exceeded their limits in performance, showcasing dazzling achievements. The journey of Karate began with a humble start, and now the team is in an excellent position. The students have participated in over 70 -80 tournaments. The most significant tournaments include the North Western Province Championship, where 7 impressive placements were achieved, and the National Tournament, where 2 places were secured.

Football

For the past 11 years, Football has become the heart of sports to this day. From iconic goals to all -time best wins, tears from all age categories have won glory across the country and beyond. To this day, Football has become more than just a sport; it has become a tradition. Year after year, the team has been known by locals as "The Paulians," and within the school, as "The Golden 11." A recognizable figure from the team, Christian Fernando, is known to have had the "Golden Feet" of the team. Though his presence is now missed, he is still regarded as an iconic figure in the team. "5 -2" was one of the most iconic comebacks made by the Paulians. Played against the Vazians, the Paulians managed to score 5 goals by the end, after the Vazians had an early 2 -0 lead, in the U -14 District Championship 2024, held at St. Mary's College, Chilaw, where the team won the 1st Runner Up title.

When the Sports meet arrives, everyone talks about who will be playing in the Football teams, with the 3 houses: Edmund, Marcus, and Aloysius. Sports meet Football matches allow the whole school to enjoy and support their houses. It also provides an opportunity to showcase the talents of players who do not typically play Football. The best victory of the Football playoffs was "3 -0," where Marcus defeated the title defenders, Edmund, with a brace contributed by Sangeeth.

Swimming

One of the most unique and creative sports is Swimming. Not only is talent required for swimming, but it also demands hard work, self -confidence, discipline, unwavering strength, and a positive mindset. The swimmers showcase their talents, skills, and competitiveness in their top -tier events. The official swimming team was launched in 2022 with a humble beginning, featuring Head Coach Ranil Nilantha Pekes. There are approximately 40 students in the swimming team. Although the team initially faced some losses, they began to win step by step, overcoming hardships with dedication and perseverance. The countless hours spent in practice finally paid off at the 2024 Provincial Swimming Meet, where the team secured 7 Gold Medals, 12 Silver Medals, and 15 Bronze Medals. Among them, the Under-16 Boys Champion was crowned. B.K. Sunera Rodrigo, who earned 30 points after winning 3 Gold Medals. This marked his 3rd consecutive Provincial Championship.
